Saturday is a Special Day!

As we have shared previously, our Saturday starts at 5:00 a.m. so that we can be to the South Stake Center by 6:30.  This morning we had to wake our parking attendant to get out of the garage. We felt bad, he looked so sound asleep.

We love our Institute Class. Some come twenty minutes early and some slide in just after we start, no different than the ones in the U.S.  We had eight class members there today, which isn't as good as last week, but better than our standard six.  That hour always goes way to quickly, with us team teaching we are only responsible for about twenty-five minutes each.  This morning we concluded with the members of the class bearing their testimonies about the Prophet Joseph Smith.  What a great class.

We got a chance to FaceTime with five out of our six children and ten out of our eleven grandchildren this morning.  We love the technology that allows us to speak live with them, and it is great to know what is happening back in Utah.

Before we left the office we prepared a flyer about the Perpetual Education Fund to hand out at this evenings Cambodian Missionary Reunion.  We do not know what percentage of the missionary force in Cambodia were locals in the past, but currently it is 25% to 35%.  Phanna's wife, Sokhom, told us she was the first native Cambodia Sister to serve as a missionary here. If there was not a missionary reunion here in Cambodia they would never get to attend one.  President Moon is the driving force behind this reunion, which he says feels weird because he is still on his mission, at least for two  more months. After five hours at the Phnom Penh South Stake Center, we finally head back to our apartment.

They asked the Senior Couples to come help with registrations, games, cleanup, etc this evening.  We were asked to help with registration and the Twister Game. The VanBrocklins were in charge of a cake-walk, and Sister Moon made 190 cupcakes for the occasion. There were several Khmer sisters who worked on the dinner (curry soup and banana cakes) all day. When it was all said and done, there were about 175 people, including children, attending. Lots of visiting, lots of fun, and dinner as well, ending with a testimony meeting. We were even able to meet Sameth's wife, TheiDa, They were there along with Yuri. We are exhausted, we were here for another six hours this evening, but it was a wonderful event.
